Clonmel Really Does Have Talent

The Organising Committee
11/3/'12
What a final night. A capacity crowd were last night treated to an incredible show in the final night of Clonmel's Got Talent. Each act delivered a top class performance . Nine primaryand eleven secondary acts entertained the audience. Eventual winner of the secondary section Mimi Lane set the tone as she took to the stage first. Musicians, singers and dancers all delivered excellent performances and handed the judging panel a huge task of coming up with the winners. Katie Keyes and James Dillon were wonderful with their rendition of "Falling Slowy" . Seven year old Cian Smith expertly played the tin whistle.Emma Lacey's version of the Mary Black classic "Katie" was beautiful while Marlene Stokes again displayed her wonderful singing voice. Katelin McGrath and Ciara Borg danced as did Anna Morris and both acts were great. Cian Boland was terrific on the guitar singing "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" by The Script . While the eventual secondary school winner Mimi Lane opened the show it was not until the 18th act that the primary school winner Saoirse Boyle delivered her winning performance Throughout the evening each act captured the audience with some wonderful performances. By the time Rebecca Prendergast closed the show the crowd had been treated to 20 acts of the highest calibre. As the judges deliberated, the interval entertainment was provided by pupils of An Gael Scoil Cluain Meala who maintained the high standard of the evening. As the judges arrived on stage to join the contestants the tension was incredible. The wonderful Angie Antonio was first to be named by the judges as 3rd in the Primary section. Next up were Katie Jeyes and James Dillon in 3rd place in the secondary schools competition. Young whistler Cian Smith was named in 2nd while the excellent Rebbeca Prendergast claimed 2nd place in the older section. Now for the moment of truth. As Keith Greene announced Saoirse Boyle as the primary schools winner her large following from St.Oliver's school greeted the announcement with huge cheers. As Saoirse stepped forward the cheering and applause continued for this wonderful singer. Now as the crowd settled down we awaited the the judges decision on the secondary schools winner. A silence had desended but was short lived and as Mimi Lane was announced the winner the corwd greeted the decision with huge cheers. There was a general feeling that the judges had got the desisions spot on and as both winners sang a reprise of their songs the audience reflected on a tremendous night's entertainment where the young people of Clonmel showed that they really do have talent. Well done one and all.

No tickets available for the final
9/3/'12
Tickets for Saturday's final are completely sold out. While it is great to see the success of this contest it is regrettable that some who have attended earlier rounds will not be able to see the final. However there is no way around this situation and people without tickets should not turn up in the hope of gaining entry as there are no surplus tickets available.

Some Of Next Saturday's Finalists
4/3/'12
WOW!!!!! After two wonderful heats of Clonmel's Got Talent we wondered if night 3 could come up to the standard set. No need to wonder the large audience were simply blown away with the talent on stage. Clonmel truly has got talent. Following an outstanding show the chairperson of the judges,Marie Fennessey announced next Saturday's final lineup. A dazzling array of talent will take the stage at 8pm next Saturday to determine the winners in both primary and secondary competitions. While the acts that got through to next Saturday are worthy of their places in the final I would like to pay tribute the acts that have not made it through. Their contribution to the last three Saturday nights has been outstanding. Indeed if there was room on the programme we could have double the amount of acts on stage in the final. The judges have had an extremely difficult task in choosing the finalists and unfortunately some will always lose out. The club are grateful to all contestants and their parents for making this event what it is. Best wishes to all the finalists. A full list of the finalists will appear on the site later today. Pictures of all last night's contestants are in the gallery on the Clonmel's Got Talent page.
Note: Admission to next Saturday's final is by ticket only. Tickets will go on sale at The White Memorial Theatre on Monday evening at 8pm and will be issued on a 1st come 1st served basis. It is extremely doubtful that any tickets will be available at the door on Saturday. All tickets for Saturday are priced at €5 per seat.

1st Round delivers some real talent.
On Saturday night (18th) 22 acts took to the stage for what was the 1st round proper of Clonmel's Got Talent. What a standard. The large crowd were treated to a wonderful 2 hours of music, singing and dancing as the acts tried to wooo the judges. The judges have an uneviable task over the next three Saturdays selecting those lucky enough to reach the final on March 10th. The standard was simply outstanding from the youngest primary school children to the more experienced secondary pupils. The sound and lighting is excellent and the thanks here goes to the boys from The High School. With the competition up and running and no doubt the word spreading the coming weeks could see a big demand for tickets. To avoid dissapointment buy in advance. Tickets available from George Barry or through the schools.
