Sadness At Eddie's Passing
Eddie Hanrahan RIP
4/4/'13
The news of the passing of club stalwart Eddie Hanrahan at lunchtime today has been greeted with great sadness. Eddie was a popular member of the club over many years and was a friend to us all. A genial man Eddie's quiet nature endeared him to all. A member of the club committee for many years Eddie was always willing to help out at any level and his support for his fellow club members was unquestionable. He was always available to fundraise and was always at the end of the phone if a steward was needed in the field. He was kit man or the senior team for many years and any role that Eddie was asked to fulfill on behalf of Clonmel Commercials he did so with pride . Eddie will be sadly missed by all who knew him and of course especially by his family. May He Rest In Peace.

Michael O'Mahoney RIP.
21/9/12
It was with a real sense of sadness that we learned of the death today of one of our Vice Presidents, Michael O'Mahoney. Mick as he was better known was a valuable member of Clonmel Commercials over many many years. He was ever present on the sidelines and committee room of the club where his opinion was always valued. A gentle giant Mick was never slow to offer his views about a game or any aspect of club activities. He was always very supportive to the club and worked tirelessly on the club's behalf. He took great pride as his sons Mick jnr, Ger, Noel and Paul all donned the famous Green and Gold and he wasn't one to spare his own of a critical review!!. Mick was equally loyal in his commitment to the St.Mary's and accompanied by his wife Maureen they were regulars at games in the division and beyond particularly when Commercials or St.Mary's took the field. Mick was well known as a barman in several pubs in the town and for many years volunteered in The GAA Centre.
Mick O'Mahoney was a gentleman, a clubman, and a great friend to have but above all he was a wonderful family man and we extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Maureen, his daughters Carol and Patricia , his sons Mick jnr, Ger, Noel and Paul, and his extended family and friends. May he rest in Peace.

Dan Kavanagh RIP
3/9/12
It is with deep regret that the news of the death of Dan Kavanagh reached the club last evening. Dan who moved to Clonmel in the 40's from west Tipp to take up a nursing post at St.Lukes. Hospital became an avid follower of the fortunes of Commercials and a number of years ago his dedication to the club over 60 years was recognised when the club members made Dan one of our club's Vice President. Dan's son Padraig played with distinction at all grades for the club and indeed the Kavanagh connection continues with Clonmel Commercials through Padraig's daughter Karen who keeps goal for the club's junior ladies side. Dan has been in poor health in recent years but in 2009 at thhe club's 75th anniversay dinner dance one of the highlights was Dan's very presence . Dan will be sadly missed by his family and friends. One of the great characters of the GAA in Tipperary is gone to his etenal reward. May he rest in Peace.
